In the first part, we learned about the basic tools of Illustrator. Today we will learn how to make your designs more perfect and professional. To become an expert designer, you must master these topics today.

Chapter 6: Organizing the Layers Design

When you're working with lots of shapes or elements in Illustrator, they can get messy. The Layers panel helps you keep everything separate.

  1. Why use layers? Suppose you are drawing a picture of a person. If the eyes, nose, and mouth are on separate layers, you don't have to worry about the other moving while you edit one.
  2. Lock and Hide: You can hide a section by clicking the 'eye' icon in the Layers panel, and lock it by clicking the 'lock' icon.

Using layers makes creating complex designs much easier.

Chapter 7: Pathfinder, the magical tool for creating shapes

There is no alternative to Pathfinder for creating new shapes or logos . It allows you to cut or join multiple shapes.

Pathfinder's main functions:

1. Unite: Convert two separate shapes into one.

2. Minus Front: Cut off the bottom shape with the top shape.

3. Divide: Separates the parts where one shape overlaps another.

Chapter 8: Typography: Making Writing Attractive

50% of the beauty of graphic design depends on the font. You can create beautiful logo types using the Type Tool (T) in Illustrator.

  1. Create Outlines: If you want to edit a font and create a shape, right-click on it and choose Create Outlines (Shift+Ctrl+O). You can then drag each corner of the font to make it longer or shorter as you like.
  2. Character Panel: From here, you can adjust the font spacing (Leading) and the gap between characters (Kerning).

Convert the font into a unique design using the Create Outline option.

Chapter 9: A small logo design project

Let's create a Moon:

1. Draw a circle with the Ellipse Tool .

2. Place another circle on top of it, slightly away from it.

3. Select both and click Pathfinder > Minus Front .

4. Look, a perfect moon was created in an instant!

Chapter 10: 3 Tips for Becoming a Professional Designer

1. Look at references : Go to Pinterest or Behance to see other people's designs and get ideas.

2. Color Palette: Instead of using colors that always catch your eye, choose a trendy color palette from the Adobe Color website.

3. Lots of practice: Try to create at least one small icon every day.

Adobe Illustrator is a huge software that cannot be learned in a day. However, if you regularly tinker with the tools, you will soon be able to create professional logos and illustrations.
