Chapter 8: Rules for opening an account on Google Blogger

To create a website on Blogger, you only need a Gmail account. Follow the steps below:

  2. Sign in: Click on the 'Create Your Blog' button and login with your Gmail.
  3. Blog Title: Enter the name of your website here. For example: " Daily Tech News ". This will be the header on your site.
  4. Blog Address (URL): This is very important. Here you need to provide a unique URL (eg:  Dailynewsepaper26.blogspot.com ). If you see " This blog address is not available ", then try adding some numbers or words to the name.
  5. Display Name: Enter the name that readers will see as your author.

Wow! Your basic website is ready. Now type the URL in your browser and search for it, and you will see a simple website.

Chapter 9: Introduction to Blogger Dashboard

After logging in, you will see a menu bar on the left side. It is important to recognize it before you start working:

  1. Posts : All your articles or posts will be here.
  2. Stats : Here you can see how many visitors are coming to your site each day and which countries they are coming from.
  3. Comments : Visitors' comments can be controlled from here.
  4. Earnings : When your site becomes popular, this is where you will apply for Google AdSense.
  5. Pages : Important pages of the website such as About Us, Contact Us, are created from here.
  6. Layout : A place to arrange the site's logo, menu bar, and sidebar.

  8. Settings : The main hub for the site's SEO and technical settings.

Chapter 10: Professional Blog Settings (SEO Settings)

You don't just have to create a website, you need to change some special settings to make it known to Google. Go to the Settings option in the Blogger dashboard and do the following:

1. Description:

What is your website about? Write it here in a short (under 500 characters). For example: "This is a technology blog where new tech tips are shared daily." This will help your site rank in Google search.

2. HTTPS:

Make sure the 'HTTPS availability' option is ON . This ensures the security of your site and adds a padlock symbol to the beginning of the URL.

3. Meta Tags:

Find the 'Meta Tags' option at the bottom of the settings. Turn on 'Enable search description' and enter keywords related to your site here.

4. Custom robots text (Custom robots.txt):

It's important to turn this on so that Google's crawler can index your site properly. (We'll learn more about this in a later episode).

Chapter 11: Changing the theme to beautify the website

Blogger's default themes don't look very professional. A beautiful website helps retain your visitors.

  1. How to do it: Go to the Theme option. There are many free themes there. However, if you want a professional look, you can download and upload many beautiful themes by searching for 'Blogger Responsive Theme' from the internet.

3. Privacy Policy: Your site's privacy policy. (You can create it for free with an online generator).

Chapter 14: Why and how to add a custom domain?
